Even though dietary supplements have an excellent safety record and are effectively regulated, there are those in Congress who wish to impose stringent new rules on supplements. SOS gives consumers a place to go to be educated on the issues, and to take action when needed.

Earlier this year, the Dietary Supplement Safety Act (S.3002) threatened to take most dietary supplements off the shelves. Through the SOS site, consumers sent tens of thousands of e-mails to Congress, telling their elected officials in no uncertain terms to keep supplements available. Thanks to these efforts, and those of others, the bill’s original sponsors, Sens. John McCain and Byron Dorgan, backed away from their legislation.
